Call for Proposals
The Italian Viola Society (AIV) is announcing a Call for Concert and Presentation Proposals for the 43rd International Viola Congress (IVC), which will be held in Cremona, Italy on October 4-8, 2016 hosted by the Italian Viola Society. Proposals for shared and full-length concerts, lectures, master classes, round tables, workshops, etc. in the areas of viola performance, its study and repertoire, with a maximum duration of 50 minutes are welcome. The IVC 2016 aims to promote and highlight young violists, their development and their contributions to music throughout the world. An emphasis will also be placed on viola pedagogy. We will pay tribute to the music of Rolla, the Italian composer and violist contemporary of Mozart; we will also champion chamber music featuring two violas in ensemble with other instruments. Collaborative projects between violists and other professionals such as composers, artists, luthiers, musicologists, health specialists, educators, scientists etc. will be appreciated. Newly discovered repertoire, alternative styles and new repertoire, are areas of interest as well.
Together, at the IVC 2016 we will share experiences helping to motivate and inspire future generations of violists, while continuing to develop the art and knowledge of the viola.

Sought Proposals
Violists and specialists in the above mentioned fields from all over the world are welcome to submit one or more proposals to perform or present at the 2016 IVC. Proposals need to pertain to one of these three categories: CONNECTING GENERATIONS (reserved to violists under 40), PERFORMANCE (open to violists of all ages), PRESENTATIONS (open to all). See descriptions below. Only one proposal may be submitted for each category by each applicant, however proposals for more then one category are allowed. Proposals will be evaluated by the AIV Board. Preference will be given to lesser-known music. Only proposals in English or Italian can be accepted.

Proponents Prerequisites
Accepted presenters and performers must be members in good standing of the Associazione Italiana della Viola (if Italian or from a country in which there is no viola society affiliated with the IVS) or of any section of IVS both for the submitting year 2015 and for the congress year 2016.

Submission Deadline
The deadline for submission is October 4, 2015 (Italian time). Proposals received after this date can not be considered. Applicants will receive notice from the AIV by December 1, 2015 whether or not their proposals have been accepted. Please send your submission via email to IVC2016proposal@gmail.com. In the subject line write the category you are applying to.

Pianists
Performers requiring a pianist may either hire a local pianist from a list AIV will provide or bring a pianist of their choice at their own expense. Pianist fees are the responsibility of performers. The 43rd IVC will provide rehearsal space free of charge. Rehearsal spaces must be booked in advance.
